The biggest state in the union is also home to some of the deadliest predators. Alaska is one of the few remaining true wildernesses left on the planet. With its harsh environment, extreme cold and constant winter darkness it is not a place for the fainthearted. As springtime buds and the sun raises its head above the horizon, the state's predatory carnivores emerge on to the vast landscapes to hunt for food, with wolves, brown bears and wolverines dispatching prey with ease. In the waters along the coastline, giant orcas and salmon sharks track and kill their quarry while tiny terrors hide in the channels and make good use of their venomous attacks.
