Annual trade fair, exhibition, and festival jazzahead! is one of the international jazz community's most important events. Hosted in Bremen, Germany, jazzahead! brings together musicians, bookers, agents, organizers, jazz experts, and music enthusiasts. Due to COVID-19, only half of the scheduled performances of the 2021 edition were actually recorded in Bremen. The other performances were captured by the artists themselves on various locations of their own choosing. Among the performing artists is Nigerian trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Etuk Ubong. He was hailed by none other than Seun Kuti as one of the best things to come out of Lagos. Weaving together a unique combination of afrobeat, highlife, and jazz, as well as the ritualistic drumming of Ekombi, Ubong has developed an original style he calls Earth Music. Etuk Ubong on vocals, trumpet and keys is joined by drummer Miracle Igboanugo, keyboardist Joshua Akindoyin, bass guitarist Samuel Jegede, trumpeter Opayemi Omotayo, percussionist Richie Sweet, tenor saxophonist James Akers, trombonist Laura Impallomeni, and baritone saxophonist Seb Silas.
