Nine Inch Nails have surpassed many of their contemporaries by continually pushing the boundaries of what a rock act should do. For a band that has consistently battled the corporate side of the music industry they have still managed to sell over 20 million albums worldwide. Although presented as a live unit, the music of Nine Inch Nails is the sole output of Producer and singer, Trent Reznor. As a young multi instrumentalist,Reznor took up a job at Right Track Studio where he began to produce his first album; 1989's 'Pretty Hate Machine'. 'Head like a Hole' was the second release from the debut. It enjoyed heavy rotation on radio, and would become the breakthrough song for the band. 'Broken' was a turning point for the sound of Nine Inch Nails. It was also the point when Reznor founded Nothing Records to step away from his deal with label TVT. Nine Inch Nails had entered the mainstream with the success of the album, 'The Downward Spiral'. But it would be five years before singer Trent Reznor would release his next record, 'The Fragile' in 1999. In a deal with Columbia Records Nine Inch Nails released the 2013 single, 'Came Back Haunted'. The video was directed by David Lynch.
